Raglan SleevesPosted on: September 1, 2015 by Yummo Mummo
Raglan Sleeves. It’s as simple as this – I love them. The Raglan style really flatters a few body types, myself included. The sleeve works equally well for both narrow and broad shoulders, but in different ways. So, what makes it a Raglan? The diagonal cut of the sleeves. The top comes in a variety of styles, but one you might commonly see are baseball style tops – uber casual and comfortable. What’s my favorite type? Look at this beauty I found at SAKS Fifth Avenue, with an awesome sales price to boot!
Raglan Sleeves visually narrow a broad shoulder because the lack of shoulder seam draws attention away from the shoulder line. A lower neckline and tapered sleeves on a raglan sleeved top further soften a broad shoulder line.
Raglan sleeves add structure to a narrow shoulder line, especially when the neckline is high and the shoulder neck point close to the neck. The shoulder line is often sloppy and a tad wide with set-in sleeves when you have dainty shoulders. The raglan fits on the shoulder no matter what.
You can shop the above set on my Polyvore account. Click HERE for details. As you can see, Raglan style can come as very casual (think baseball tee) or more dressy (see middle right, sequenced).
How do you like your Raglan?
